NTI has gained approval to offer Federal Financial Aid to qualified students enrolling in their Information Technologist, Network Administration and Design, Network Specialist, HVAC-R, Medical Transcription, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Coding and Billing, Clinical Medical Assistant, and Medical Laboratory Assistant programs.
“Being able to offer Financial Aid to qualified students has really made a difference to those trying to build a better future through a new career,” says Jill Golike, Director of Financial Aid at Northeast Technical Institute (NTI).
NTI has always focused on short term, flexible training designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of students. Many students struggling to improve their lives through higher education also struggle with how to finance that education.
“Many of our applicants, especially those with the most need were being left out of the opportunities our education can provide”, says Jim Liponis, President of NTI. “Now that we can offer those qualified students Federal Financial Aid, we’ve seen how those students and their communities benefit from their access to higher education.”
With the downturn in the economy and the ever-increasing need of education beyond high school to be competitive in today’s job market, the value of higher education has never been greater. Being able to offer Financial Aid allows more students than ever before to attend classes at NTI and to build new and marketable skill sets in burgeoning industries across Maine.
NTI student Debra Carmichael, currently attending the Medical Lab Assistant program says, “Ever since losing my old job due to disability, I have been trying to go back to school to make a better life for myself. I knew that an education was the key to changing things, but I was really worried about how I was going to be able to afford it. NTI’s Financial Aid staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. They guided me through the whole process and showed me how I could receive grants and loans to help me pay for school. I never thought it would really happen for me, and now it is! Thanks NTI!”
